With the passing of my friend and our author, Merle (Bill) Baldwin, Jr. in October of 2015, I have changed the theme and renewed the site.
Bill brought us a story of struggle, loss, success, and victory over adversity. The Helmsman stories remain as pertinent today as they were when first published in 1985. Bill brought us a world that reflects problems of prejudice and exclusion that still trouble us 30 years later. Bill always admitted that his books were not great literature, but they took complex problems and presented them in an understandable manner. This site is dedicated to that view, and the mind that created the Helmsman and other books.
